A toilet that runs all the time is the most expensive small fault in the house. It can waste hundreds of litres a day, and it is almost always a cheap part inside the cistern.
You can test yours in a minute. Put a few drops of food colouring in the cistern, wait half an hour, and do not flush. If colour appears in the bowl, it is leaking.
The parts inside a cistern are all same-visit repairs.
