Limassol
Limassol has two very different plumbing problems sitting side by side. The new towers along the coast are young enough that faults usually come down to how they were fitted, and one shared pipe can leave several flats with the same complaint at once. A few streets inland, around Mesa Geitonia and Kato Polemidia, the older houses have steel pipes that rust from the inside. There, one leak is usually the first of several.

Nicosia
Nicosia has the oldest lived-in houses on the island, and the plumbing shows it. Inside the old walls the pipes are narrow, hard to get at, and have been patched by many different hands over the years. The same job takes longer in the Old Town or Kaimakli than it does in Strovolos or Latsia. Worth knowing before you agree a price.

Larnaca
Larnaca has a lot of single-storey homes with solar water heaters on the roof. That setup has its own set of faults: a tank that has gone, a joint leaking up on the roof, or the electric backup heater that stopped working months ago and nobody noticed until winter. They are different problems from the ones you get in a modern flat.

Paphos
A lot of Paphos homes are only lived in part of the year, and empty houses get their own faults. The water sitting in the drain traps dries out and the smell comes back up into the house. Small leaks run for weeks with nobody there to see them. Villas with a pool and a watering system have far more pipe running outside than a flat does, and that is where the hidden leaks usually turn out to be.
